    Trabalho apresentado no 31º SEURS - Seminário de Extensão Universitária da Região Sul, realizado em Florianópolis, SC, no período de 04 a 07 de agosto de 2013 - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.O presente trabalho relata o desenvolvimento de atividades de extensão realizado no sétimo ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola estadual na cidade de Santa Maria, RS. Tem como objetivo a interação entre acadêmico do curso de licenciatura em Matemática e estudantes e professor de matemática da escola, com vista a oferecer alternativas metodológicas que viabilize a aprendizagem dos alunos em conteúdos de matemática que são tratados no ensino fundamental. O acadêmico atua orientando os estudantes da escola com dificuldades no aprendizado, esclarecendo dúvidas e ministrando aulas de reforço. Essas atividades oportunizam ao acadêmico interagir com estudantes do ensino fundamental, contribuindo para a sua formação, além de despertar nos estudantes o interesse pelo estudo da matemática

Foram Simulados os Impactos da Implementação de Cortes Tarifários de Acordo com Diferentes Coeficientes para a Fórmula Suíça. as Simulações Foram Realizadas com o Modelo Gtap e Todos os Choques Tarifários Foram Calculados a Partir de Informações da Base de Dados Macmap. Além de Analisar Resultados Macroeconômicos e Setoriais, Também foi Testada a Sensibilidade dos Resultados em Relação ao Aumento das Elasticidades de Armington e À Ocorrência de uma Simultânea Liberalização de Tarifas Sobre Bens Agrícolas.

    Decision support system for the long-term city metabolism planning problem

    A Decision Support System (DSS) tool for the assessment of intervention strategies (Alternatives) in an Urban Water System (UWS) with an integral simulation model called “WaterMet²” is presented. The DSS permits the user to identify one or more optimal Alternatives over a fixed long-term planning horizon using performance metrics mapped to the TRUST sustainability criteria (Alegre et al., 2012). The DSS exposes lists of in-built intervention options and system performance metrics for the user to compose new Alternatives. The quantitative metrics are calculated by the WaterMet² model and further qualitative or user-defined metrics may be specified by the user or by external tools feeding into the DSS. A Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) approach is employed within the DSS to compare the defined Alternatives and to rank them with respect to a pre-specified weighting scheme for different Scenarios. Two rich, interactive Graphical User Interfaces, one desktop and one web-based, are employed to assist with guiding the end user through the stages of defining the problem, evaluating and ranking Alternatives. This mechanism provides a useful tool for decision makers to compare different strategies for the planning of UWS with respect to multiple Scenarios. The efficacy of the DSS is demonstrated on a northern European case study inspired by a real-life urban water system for a mixture of quantitative and qualitative criteria. The results demonstrate how the DSS, integrated with an UWS modelling approach, can be used to assist planners in meeting their long-term, strategic level sustainability objectives

    Effects of Cosmetic Formulations Containing Hydroxyacids on Sun-Exposed Skin: Current Applications and Future Developments

    This paper describes recent data on the effects of various skin formulations containing hydroxyacids (HAs) and related products on sun-exposed skin. The most frequently used classes of these products, such as α- and β-hydroxyacids, polyhydroxy acids, and bionic acids, are reviewed, and their application in cosmetic formulations is described. Special emphasis is devoted to the safety evaluation of these formulations, particularly on the effects of their prolonged use on sun-exposed skin. We also discuss the important contribution of cosmetic vehicles in these types of studies. Data on the effects of HAs on melanogenesis and tanning are also included. Up-to-date methods and techniques used in those explorations, as well as selected future developments in the cosmetic area, are presented

    Applications of hydroxy acids: classification, mechanisms, and photoactivity

    Hydroxy acids (HAs) represent a class of compounds which have been widely used in a number of cosmetic and therapeutic formulations in order to achieve a variety of beneficial effects for the skin. We review and discuss the most frequently used classes of these compounds, such as α-hydroxy acids, β-hydroxy acids, polyhydroxy acids, and bionic acids, and describe their applications as cosmetic and therapeutic agents. Special emphasis is devoted to the safety evaluation of these formulations, in particular on the effects of their prolonged use on sun-exposed skin. Furthermore, we summarize the very limited number of studies dealing with the modifications evoked by topical application of products containing HAs on photocarcinogenesis. In spite of the large number of reports on the cosmetic and clinical effects of HAs, their biological mechanism(s) of action still require more clarification. Some of these mechanisms are discussed in this article along with important findings on the effect of HAs on melanogenesis and on tanning. We also emphasize the important contribution of cosmetic vehicles in these types of studies. Thus, HAs play an important role in cosmetic formulations, as well as in many dermatologic applications, such as in treating photoaging, acne, ichthyosis, rosacea, pigmentation disorders, and psoriasis

    Neste trabalho buscaremos problematizar questões pertinentes a epidemia da AIDS, perpassando por discussões sobre a peste gay como metáfora, o sexo seguro e o preservativo como um dispositivo biopolítico, a deshomossexulização da epidemia, risco em saúde, finalizando com o barebacking sex. Essas discussões se tornam pertinentes, principalmente num momento em que a questões como riscos, controle e medicalização da saúde se constituem como temas importantes da atualidade e o histórico da epidemia da AIDS podem contribuir significativamente para o fomento de tais reflexões.     Burrow morphology and behavior of the mud shrimp Upogebia omissa (Decapoda: Thalassinidea: Upogebiidae)

    The burrow morphology, burrowing behavior and feeding mechanisms of the thalassinidean shrimp Upogebia omissa were studied. Twenty burrow casts were made in situ with epoxy resin, and an overall \u27Y\u27 shape was most frequently observed. Several burrows consisted of a single, oblique tunnel; burrow diameter was positively correlated with burrow length, maximum depth and distance between openings. Additionally, burrow length was positively associated with maximum depth, indicating that as burrow length increased burrow depth increased; i.e. burrows spread vertically rather than horizontally. Total sediment displacement by the burrows accounted for 2.6 % of sediment to a depth of 30 cm. The sediment-water interface increased by 290 % in areas containing burrows compared to areas without burrows. Solitary adults were trapped in 15 casts. Three casts were interconnected, but each burrow contained only 1 shrimp. Regression analysis revealed shrimp length to be positively correlated with burrow diameter and area. In aquaria, U. omissa displayed a dual feeding behavior: the shrimp filtered suspended particles, and also fed &redly on the sediment. Filter-feeding occurred mainly within U-shaped tunnels, while deposit-feeding was observed in association with the oblique tunnels of the burrow. Although filter-feeding has been considered as the main trophic mode in upogebiids, we present evidence that U. omissa may have a more pronounced deposit-feeding behavior than described for other species of this group. Based on our findings, we suggest that current models on the functional morphology of burrows in relation to feeding should be used cautiously in inferring the trophic behavior of these shrimp
